The Prince of Darkness Breaks the News

Robert Novak is shocked, shocked that Mike Huckabee is not a libertarian. It's a shame someone as learned as Novak would conflate the terms "libertarian" and "conservative."

But never mind Novak--Huckabee stole the show (again) at the CNN/YouTube Republican debate on Wednesday. From a purely oratorical standpoint (forget about policy for the moment) the former Arkansas governor had the crowd roaring, and the other candidates looking stiff.

I tell ya, I'd really like to see a Huckabee v. Obama race. It could snap the country out of a national political funk.

I agree that Mr. Huckabee was by far the smoothest, most articulate, and "likable" candidate up on stage. It would be v. interesting to see a Huckabee/Obama ticket. Much more so than a Guliani/Clinton ticket, which it seems is what the mass media has been trying to portray for the last 12 months.

I heard someone say yesterday that if Abe Lincoln were to watch one of the YouTube debates, he would turn over in his grave. I think I might have to agree. There seems to be little substance to them, as a whole.

I was a little surprised at the number of "democratic/liberal" sounding questions that were asked to the Republican candidates. I've heard (unfounded) claims that some of the questions came from Obama & Clinton supporters and/or activists. Heard or seen anything of that nature? If it's true, shouldn't Republicans be asking the Republican candidates questions so they can determine who they will choose in their primary?

It's true, the Brigadier General who asked the "gays in the military question" is a Clinton campaign adviser.
